And me

As for my part in this, I'm going to be trying my best to dodge broad judgments about who wants what and why and what's right and wrong about this and that. My interest is pretty much all procedural, and so far, everyone stating an opinion on procedure seems to be an idiot. I don't want folks to come to view me as a supporter of certain sides just because they haven't stated idiotic opinions about procedure.

That said, I'm fucking awesome, and know a shitload about these sorts of things. So if you have questions which haven't been adequately addressed by the idiots you surround yourselves with, feel free to shoot them my way, either in the comments here or through e-mail.

Comments:
1) Where does the $50,000 election figure come from?

2) Is there a possible problem here with Student Action blocking the funding for a recall election?

3) SQUELCH! is no longer associated with Moghtader - is the recall the only reason why?

4) Does anyone in the ASUC seem like they know what they are doing right now?

Just wanted to say that you're the best at sorting through the piles of crap and maintaining no affiliation.

You rock. More people should read this blog than the Daily Cal.

1) See the next post

2) I don't think SA has the legal authority to block funding. They have to hold the recall election. That doesn't mean they won't do it, but then a Judicial Council suit could force the issue, and attempts to block the election would probably lose.

SA can, perhaps, block some funding and make the Elections Council make do with less. There aren't many rules to deal with this issue, so as long as there's enough money to actually run the election, the Senate has a lot of flexibility.

3) SQUELCH! disaffiliated Moghtader before the recall campaign began. The official reason is that he wasn't funny. Obviously there are other considerations, but I'd rather not speculate on them. A bunch of SQUELCH! alumni condemned Moghtader in response to the fight, though (again, before the recall campaign). (The Daily Cal didn't publish their op-ed, but you can see it in comments on Nuts and Boalts here (12/04, 12:20 AM comment)

4) Some people may be on top of things. I haven't had a chance to really follow what's being done all that closely. I doubt those who are working hard to do things right feel the need to proclaim it in the Daily Cal the way that those who don't know what they're talking about do.

Too bad you weren't selected to be AG.
