Our own Yaman Salahi has become dubiously famous for losing in small claims court to Lee Kaplan, with references from Ann Althouse, Glenn Reynolds, and Slashdot. Kaplan has a pretty solid reputation as an asshole.

Salahi has his basic complaints here, and it seems that the case being held in small claims court deprived him of many of the protections he would have received otherwise. We should note this as a lesson and try to keep these cases out of small claims court. We should also note that when being sued by many people, they know their way around the legal system well and we should definitely go find ourselves lawyers as early as possible, and try to use SLAPP law to cover the costs.

I was hoping I'd get sued.

For the literate, I didn't call Lee Kaplan an asshole. I don't know him, and I don't read anything about him. It's part of his reputation, some of which might be illuminated by the web-literate clicking on the link and noting that it has nothing to do with the lawsuit.

The "Web-literate" coul;d at best be called illiterate. You were not present at the trial, report information conveyed to you by the loser, who is also scamming other bloggers to beleive he was a victim, then make ad hominem attacks on Kaplan in your writing.
The simple truth is Salahi had five hearings and lost. You were not there, the Web does not show all the documents or evidence and to attack someone as an asshole for supporting Israel or you think hes a conservative does not amount to a hill of beans.

I really, really encourage you to click on that link labeled "asshole." You might have tried that before insisting that it had something to do with the trial you're talking about. (hint: it doesn't)
