Yay! Controversy!
I was actually planning on doing this deliberately, but I chose not to.
Summary: Guillermo Murga is running for ASUC Senate. I don't know who that is, and assume he's going to lose. He signed up after the candidates' meeting, but before the filing deadline. He didn't know when the voters' guide statement was due. His name is misspelled in the voters' guide (but then again, so is the ASUC's). Jessica Wren says she plans to seek a censure against him for missing the candidates' meeting.
Thoughts:
As far as I can tell, there is no basis for seeking a censure for missing the candidates' meeting.
Candidates are clearly responsible for the material in the candidates' meeting, according to the By-Laws. However, according to the By-Laws, the candidates' meeting was not held, since it is to follow the end of the filing period.
Moving the deadline for the filing period was a very bad idea. One could, probably with legal justification, think the candidates' meeting was to be held on April 3, simply by reading the By-Laws. Murga could probably argue that he was denied the right to attend the meeting, since it wasn't held when the By-Laws said they would be held.
The Judicial Council doesn't really have any remedies lying around but cancelling/postponing the elections.
Anyway, if you know this dude, or are this dude, and this dude wants some help dealing with the Judicial Council, I'm always available.
