Voting!

Issues with voting I've seen so far:

Gabriela "Gaby Campe" Ure???a is running, according to my ballot.

My party name is miscapitalized/mispunctuated.

The coupon at the end is still not valid on textbooks. This issue came up last year, too.

It's also not valid on "graduation". I didn't know our degrees are conferred by eFollet too.

I hope you're preparing a charge sheet!

There's kind of a weird and annoying typo on the Squelch referendum.

It basically says "and" instead of "to" at one point which, if you're the sort of voter who actually reads these things, is kind of needlessly confusing.

Other than that though, the ballot looks and operates better than ever (or maybe the same as last year, I don't remember).

I found it much easier and faster to vote this year than last year.

Here's my hyper-partisan shout out to the Squelch Referendum: It's the most tightly focused referendum; a vote for this is a vote for a higher quality student magazine and many much needed campus improvements like publication racks. If you vote for this, you know that the vast majority of the fee is going to printing costs and are basically impossible to waste, and unlike the other fees, there are no hidden costs in the future waiting to spring up on students. Once this fee is passed, student magazines will have more resources and will actually be able to get more advertising revenue because advertisers prefer higher quality publications.

And most simply, without this referendum, yearly increases in costs are going to continue to devastate an already battered set of publications. At this point, the Squelch is the only publication you can even really find on campus anymore. The others do great work, but they get hidden away because they don't have the resources to aggressively target Sproul 30 hours a week. I can't speak for these publications (and I can't endorse things on behalf of the Squelch), but my experience says that actual publication racks will be incredibly helpful and will give students a nice choice of something other than the Daily Cal to grab on their way to class.

That was me above, I deleted my comment because of my typo. Fixed message:

Is the "???" thing fixed yet? If she misses a Senate seat by a few votes, that could arguably be a reason why. On the other hand, if she makes it by a few votes, that could also arguably be a reason why.
