So...

Let's talk about the Green Initiative Fund. The Green Initiative Fund is passed by referendum. You know. Not by initiative. But whatever. It's a chain fee increase, like a franchise, so I guess that's cool.

They are putting a shitload of resources into their campaign, which is completely unnecessary. The YES side is going to blow the NO side out of the water even without a campaign. The fact that they're running one suggests that they aren't very careful with money, and will pointlessly spend it. This is not a good sign for TGIF itself, when these folks will have control of our money and will be able to pointlessly spend it freely.

i can't tell if you're being serious or not. of all the legitimate issues to have with tgif (and there are many), you pick a strange and logically incoherent one.

they believe strongly enough about their issue to run a well-planned/executed campaign. that has very little to do with how money will be spent after they win their campaign (if they win). i know this must be hard to believe for a jaded graduate student such as yourself, but people actually, like, care about stuff.

No one's questioning their beliefs. I'm questioning their competence with money. They could put all that belief/desire to change things into actually helping with sustainability rather than preaching to a choir.

i feel like you're being a little bit dishonest.

my point was not just that they care about what they do, but that they care enough to put the effort in to ensure that they win. i actually don't believe it's that obvious that they would win handily - i would think that there would probably be a low number of voters for referenda, with a large chunk of voters just checking off a random box.

in addition, through this campaign, i'm sure they're recruiting a ton of people who might work on the actual sustainability effort next year.
