Okay, at least 7 separate sources of the phrase "Tofy Army" outside the Daily Cal. However, by "direct hits" she must be referring to hits that do not come from message boards, mySpace, or Xanga. So that takes it to 0.
But otherwise, bleh on the op-ed. It's not like I'm moved to disagree, paricularly if the other article was more humorous. If only the good people at the Daily Cal could somehow link the column mentioned in the op-ed to that page, I might have the energy to read it.
Come on Daily Cal, take a page out of Wikipedia's book. Link everything!

Well, it's a newspaper thing. This "technology" confuses them. The Chron has the same problem. The Boston Globe, to its credit, does link article references in letters.
