I'll give him the benefit of the doubt (though not the reporter, who should have caught that) and assume he got double (200%) and cut in half (50%) mixed up. Easy to invert.
Nothing about that seems easy to invert. Anyway, I was just pointing out the way it came out, and I find more likely the stupidity of the reporter who thought she was just rewording something the dude said, or maybe adding a zero, or attempting to make him look dumb (though I don't think she's smart enough for it). Remember, this is from the Daily Planet.
I seem to recall that not too long ago, a group of minority students who had been expelled from BHS for violence retained a lawyer (who worked pro bono), and argued that BHS was racist, since a disproportionate number of those expelled were non-white. The school district caved (of course) and reinstated the plaintiffs--who then received special tutoring to make up for time lost.
