Uhhh....

I love Meleia!

If you recall, Meleia Willis-Starbuck died after she called a hit on someone but used an amateur who hit her instead. I'm glad there are people working to keep her spirit alive.

On a broader topic, though, I remain somewhat confused about the whole run-for-charity thing. Some people like running. Some people want to give money to charity. Why do the two need to be interrelated? Who is the philanthropist who says "I'll help out with this cause... but only if that guy over there runs really far!"?

It's sad that you would believe a totally unsubstantiated rumor that Meleia called a hit on anyone, especially since this was only said by one of the football players harassing this group of young college women. Sorry this is a late comment but I just happened to see it. As for the run (or walk - it was choice), the group was invited by the people who put it together. When the info was sent out, everyone was given the option of joining the run/walk (no required distance, just flat donation) or to donate directly to the scholarship fund.
