Did you hear the news?

Smoking: San Francisco has banned smoking in public parks. Such a proposal is not on the table here in Berkeley. Here's a story about what kind of impact that proposal which is not being considered will have.

Damn Textbookers: While whining about how textbook publishers rip off students by printing useless new editions of their books, the PIRGs publish a useless new edition of their complaints.

Give us goodness, Mr. Bates!: "Bates said Berkeley could expect to see an improvement in the city’s efforts to get the homeless off the streets." Added Bates, "Those expectations won't be met, but that doesn't stop you from expecting an improvement. Instead of improving, we'll be offering more homeless services while continuing to wonder why homeless folk seem drawn to Berkeley."
