We are reviewing the play...

Instant replay should be removed from elections. It slows down the pace of the game. We want to see people hit each other. Politically.

So yeah, the federal court of something or other said that the recall needs to be delayed until March for the primaries, with the decision's effect pending appeals. I say BOO! Here's why:

1. It's a state issue. The argument of making it a federal issue probably runs along the lines of "it discriminates against minorities and such and so we get to go all 14th ammendment on their ass." I don't buy it, but I can understand the argument.

2. The problem isn't solved. I doubt that the machines'll be replaced even by March. But if they are... well, okay.

3. Even if there's a problem with nonrepresentative voting, that is always the case (see following post). The list of issues determines voter turnout, and it's just coincidence which determines what passes and what fails.

4. Even if it was a major point, these issues are not enough to overrule an explicit enumeration in the California constitution regarding timing of elections.
